Cream Centre is one restaurant in Chennai that I have been longing to visit for a long time. I have tried to get reservations here umpteen times, but failed miserably every single time. There have been times when we have decided we will endure the wait but then had to leave the place halfway after the children got cranky. So when we visited the newly opened Lulu Mall in Cochin and found a branch of the same restaurant, the temptation was too good to resist.
Ambience
We reached the place at 12.15 after a shopping expedition to the massive hypermarket. There were only one or two diners at the time and we were seated immediately. The decor was smart and minimalistic. The staff was friendly and attentive. Though they don’t serve tea during lunch time, they took our order for the same when my husband made a special request.
Food
We also ordered 2 plates of channa bhatura, 1 strawberry iced tea and a grilled herb vegetable pizza. The pizza was served first and was amazing to say the least. With a super crispy crust and loads of cheese, this pizza was just finger licking good. The channa bhatura was yum too. And as for the masala tea and strawberry iced tea, no complaints whatsoever. While placing the order my husband was pointing out to the staff that we have never been able to get a reservation at the Chennai outlet. And the staff was grinning while replying “just wait sir, this place will get packed at 1.00pm”.
Service
And sure enough, by the time we were leaving, the place was getting super crowded. So this is a phenomenon across cities! Since the food, ambience and service was top notch, I am going with a 5/5 for the Cream Centre at Lulu Mall.
