Well, well, well! Here we were about to indulge in some good old fish and chips and what do we find, a fusion food joint right in the middle of a quaint ol’ seaside town!
We were in Robe for the weekend and the children had already made plans for lunch. But as luck would have it, we missed the lunch hour by a whisker and here we were, trying to find a place that was open for lunch at 2.30 pm. The Adventurous Spoon came up on our Google search and we thought, how adventurous can it get?
Located on the corner of Victoria Street and Robe Street, the Adventurous Spoon has three different seating options, a smaller setting inside, a covered spacious space in the rear and a wine garden setting even further out where even furried friends are welcome.
By the time we settled in and had a look at the menu, it.was 5 past closing time and they had stopped the breakfast menu for the day. The children had their pick from the kids menu, a toastie with ham and cheese and homemade chicken nuggets with fries. I decided the special for lunch looked promising and settled for a cauliflower, potato, bacon and parmesan soup with toasted ciabatta while the hubster decided to opt for a haloumi burger. The haloumi grilled burger with lettuce, balsamic mayonnaise, tomato and fries was da bomb! The children didn’t care much for the toastie, but the homemade nuggets and the fries were gobbled up within no time. My soup was quite adventurous as well, that’s the only way I can think of describing this one.
The lady who took our order was warm, friendly and courteous. The food did take a good twenty minutes to be served, but overall the service was top notch. So if you are looking for a meal that is way out of the ordinary in Robe, then The Adventurous Spoon is the place!
