I know! I promised a journal and whatever happened? These past few weeks have been extremely busy on the work front and I got bogged down with a fundraiser and couple of custom cakes! Apologies!

While in Melbourne, we made a day trip to the Mornington Peninsula and lets just say, we ended up making a lot of memories on said day. We had decided on having fish and chips for lunch early on and were hunting around for a place on ocean beach road (kind of the main street in this picturesque coastal town) and stumbled upon on Foot Fetish, a relatively small yet quirky fish and chips takeaway joint. Well, come to think of it, you cannot miss this place even if you try! It is that crowded!

Located next to the hugely popular Vanilla Slice Cafe, this cafe has a fan following of its own. You even feel kind of claustrophobic considering the amount of people squashed into a little room trying to place their orders. When it comes to seating, there are a couple of pavement tables and that’s it. All this jostling around is only to make a picnic out of your order. Can you beat that 🙂

We were lucky enough to grab a seat (read: waiting around near the said table for what felt like ages) and ordered a family platter of fish and chips along with hamburgers for the children. The menu has a whole lot of options, but we decided to stick to the basics, fish and chips! The family platter contained 4 each of the following, fish (we opted for barramundi), dim sims, potato cake, chips and drinks of your choice. The platter was so filling that we had a hard time finishing it even though we were a group of 5 adults and 2 kids. The barramundi, the star of the platter was fresh and fried to perfection with a crispy batter. The proof, no pictures? All of us just dived in! The burgers however, were average and a bit dry. But then, this is a fish and chips joint, and they do make a mean one!

The only issue or rather downside to Fish Fetish is that they do not accept cards and you need to have cash in order to place an order. Also, do bear in mind that this is a super busy place with practically non-existent service, so be prepared for a crowd at all times!
