We stopped at Spice Village, Thekkady for a quick lunch on our way to Kottayam recently. The sprawling property is maintained impeccably and the restaurant, called The Tiffin Room overlooks the lawn and the pool. The view of the lawn is breathtaking!
Service here was top notch, though intrusive at times. We ordered 2 plates of rice, one chicken curry, two wheat parathas and curd. Pappadoms and pickles were complimentary. The curry had bags of flavour and the selection of pickles were unusual but finger licking good.

We had complaints about the food. However, the portions were too tight, especially that of rice. The final bill came to INR1200 which is slightly expensive considering how less we odered. The property is owned by the Casino group and the slightly higher price point could be due to this. If the portion sizes were proper I would have been content. Alas!
